Purpose-led innovation takes centre stage at LCR Tech Climbers

The 2025 Tech Climbers list has revealed the best performing product-led tech businesses making an impact in the Liverpool City Region. Announced at Scale in Liverpool city centre, the event brought together founders, investors, and ecosystem supporters to celebrate the region's growing tech maturity.

Host Oyinkansola Adebayo unveiled the official 17 companies on the list, alongside 10 up-and-coming businesses named as 'Ones to Watch'. Entries were assessed by an expert panel evaluating impact, innovation, and investment across the region.

Key statistics show that 57% of businesses leverage 'tech for good' in sub-sectors including health, education, accessibility, and sustainability. 83% are actively seeking investment, with 66% having already secured some level of funding. This year's data also forecasts the creation of approximately 236 jobs.

The MedTech and Life Sciences sectors continue to strengthen, with 85% of entrants using AI to address real-world challenges in health, sustainability, and accessibility. Two companies from last year's Ones to Watch list—Sum Vivas, creator of digital employees, and workplace wellbeing firm The Wellbeing Doctors—have moved up to the main list, demonstrating rapid growth.

Three special awards were presented: the Impressive Innovator award went to Guilford Street Laboratories, a university spinout combining biomarker science with AI-powered analytics. The Relentless Raiser category, recognising businesses on track to secure investment, was awarded to Evove, a deeptech company using precision membrane technology for a new energy economy. The Innovating with Impact award went to MyCardium AI, a returning Tech Climber that uses AI to measure heart function and has grown to 30 staff with a multi-million-pound turnover in four years.

Each listed business gains national recognition, access to a network of advisors and investors, and an exclusive prize package including investment readiness workshops by Brabners and strategy sessions with RSM UK. The event concluded with thanks to headline, ecosystem, national, and event partners including Tangerine Communications, Brabners, Marks & Clerk, Rathbones, RSM, Tech North Advocates, UK Tech Week, NatWest, Sciontec, Growth Platform, PXN Ventures, LYVA Labs, HubSpot, TechUK, The Data City, and Innovate Her.

With a mission to profile fast-growing tech businesses in scaling ecosystems across the UK, Tech Climbers continues to support tech scaleups in multiple regions.
